One of the coolest camping experiences I’ve ever had. Waking up to birds, giant leaves moving in the wind… and weather that goes from dreamy to torrential in 5 minutes 🌧️

This place is wild! over 180 million years old (older than the Amazon), packed with insane biodiversity, and part of a UNESCO World Heritage area. It’s also one of the only places where the rainforest meets the Great Barrier Reef. Two UNESCO sites side by side 🤯

Also… a TRUE Aussie experience 😂 Shined my headlamp on the ground before bed, saw one glowing dot… then realized it was a spider… then realized there were dozens and the whole forest floor looked alive. Ran straight into my tent hoping there were zero holes, lmao.

And coming from bear & cougar country, I wasn’t worried about mammals, but cue my 2am panic thinking I heard a wild pig… which somehow turned into me being convinced a cassowary was about to attack us (if you don’t know what that is… Google it, please 😅)

Still about four months until Healy Pass looks lik Still about four months until Healy Pass looks like this… but honestly, I’m already dreaming of endless wildflower meadows while we’re just stepping into spring 🌼🌺🌸

This trail is one of those places that feels unreal in peak bloom:
🥾 Distance: ~18 km round trip
📈 Elevation gain: ~885 m
⏱️ Time: 5 to 7 hours depending on pace
🌸 Best time for wildflowers: late July to early August

Just a little note from behind the scenes: every clip you see here was taken from the trail. The switchbacks create that “surrounded by flowers” feeling without ever stepping off path which makes it perfect for photos while still protecting the landscape!

Wildflowers are fragile and once they’re damaged, they can take years to recover or disappear altogether. Staying on trail is the easiest way to keep places like this just as magical for everyone who comes after us 🤍
